The Goa government will begin revenue collection from the Manohar International Airport on December 7, stated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the state legislative assembly.
The Chief Minister of Goa has disclosed in a written reply to the assembly that the state cabinet has extended the deadline for the concessionaire’s payment of the premium to the state government from May 31 to December 7, 2024.
”The payment of the government’s revenue share will commence after the two years of the completion of Phase I of the airport,” Sawant stated. The Phase I construction was completed by December 2022.
Concession Agreement of Phase I
As per the concession agreement, the government has rescheduled the deadline of the project completion date and also modified the revenue share payment time respectively. Phase I of the Mopa Airport was supposed to be completed by September 3, 2020, and the revenue collection for the government should have been started by September 4, 2020. However, because of a stay order from the court and the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the completion of the Phase I airport by 851 days.
