Mumbai Airport is set to experience a slight 2 per cent year-on-year increase in flight movements this winter, reaching 3,372 flights per week despite growing travel demand.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will offer a wide range of travel options with 2,361 domestic flights and 1,011 international flights in its winter 2024 schedule.
Indian airlines set to operate 25,007 weekly flights this winter
According to the winter schedule announced by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) earlier this month, Indian airlines will operate a total of 25,007 flights weekly to and from 124 airports, reflecting a 5.37 per cent increase compared to last winter’s schedule. The winter schedule began on October 27, 2024, and will continue until March 29, 2025.
Surge in domestic and international travel
With increased travel on both domestic and international routes, Mumbai Airport anticipates a 4 percent rise compared to the summer schedule of 2024, and a 2 percent increase over the winter schedule of 2023.
This robust flight schedule aims to provide a seamless travel experience to over 115 destinations this winter, including enhanced services to international locations like Toronto, Bangkok, London, and Amman.
Air Canada to resume its flights to Toronto
Air Canada will resume its service to Toronto starting October 28, 2024, with four weekly flights, while Thai low-cost carrier Nok Air has introduced eight weekly flights to Bangkok (DMK) from October 27, 2024.
Additionally, Virgin Atlantic plans to launch a second daily flight to London Heathrow on October 28, and Royal Jordanian will begin a new route to Amman with four weekly flights in February-March 2025.
Thai VietJet is also expected to start daily flights to Bangkok (BKK) around December. These new routes and airlines will provide Mumbai travelers with exciting international vacation options.
