Dense fog and low visibility have resulted in travel disruptions across several states in northern and eastern India. Major airlines, including IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Air India, have issued advisories and cautioned passengers to expect delays, possible cancellations, and diversions. The cities that will be affected include Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, Assam, and others. It is expected to impact thousands of travellers as winter weather intensifies.

Airport teams are also available for supporting travelers at the terminal,” IndiGo stated, appealing for patience as operations stabilise.

Air India and SpiceJet respond with proactive measures

On a similar note, SpiceJet has also issued an advisory stating that Delhi, Jammu, Patna, Guwahati, Bagdogra, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Darbhanga, and Amritsar are among the cities that are most expected to face disruptions. “Passengers are advised to keep a tab on their flight status,” the airline warned as poor visibility threatens to impact both the arrivals and departures of the flights.

Air India also issued travel advisories and shared similar concerns, underlining the dense fog forecast over Varanasi, Amritsar, and Chandigarh. The airline advised, “We have taken proactive measures to decrease disruptions…our ground colleagues remain available to assist you.” Flyers have been advised to check flight status before heading towards the airport and also to allow extra time for their travel plans.
