An IndiGo flight operating between Chennai and Hyderabad made a precautionary return to the gate on Monday morning following a medical emergency onboard. The incident, which delayed the flight’s departure by nearly an hour.

Flight 6E0495, an Airbus A320, was scheduled to depart from Chennai International Airport for Hyderabad at 6:05 am. According to airport sources, the aircraft pushed back from Stand D54 at 5:58 am. However, shortly after pushback, a medical emergency was reported onboard, prompting the crew to return the aircraft to its original stand at 6:15 am.

The airline’s crew, in coordination with airport medical staff, attended to the affected passenger. After the situation was resolved, the aircraft was cleared for departure and took off for Hyderabad at 7:00 am, ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers.

In a similar case, an IndiGo flight carrying 168 passengers made an emergency landing at Bengaluru International Airport on June 19, 2025, after the pilot declared a ‘Fuel Mayday’ due to critically low fuel levels following a diversion from Chennai caused by air traffic congestion. The flight landed safely at 8:20 pm, and emergency response teams were on standby. The aircraft later resumed its journey to Chennai with a different crew.

On May 28, an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Chennai was recently diverted to Hyderabad after a passenger fell seriously ill mid-air. The crew provided immediate assistance, and the passenger was promptly hospitalised upon landing.

On June 19, another IndiGo flight from Chennai to Hyderabad made an emergency return to Chennai after experiencing mid-air engine trouble. All passengers were safe, and the aircraft was thoroughly inspected before resuming operations.
