Air India Express on Sunday started its daily direct flights from Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) to Bengaluru and Kolkata. The inaugural flight from Sri Vijaya Puram to Kolkata departed at 8:35 am, followed by the first flight to Bengaluru, which took off at 1:50 pm.
These inaugural flights mark Sri Vijaya Puram’s entry into the growing Air India Express network, bolstering the airline’s regional presence and improving connectivity to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a prominent tourist destination.
Besides this, the airline also commenced daily operations from Jammu to Delhi and Srinagar today.
Air India Express services to Chennai
Starting January 1, 2025, Air India Express will launch services to Chennai, further improving connectivity from Sri Vijaya Puram. Additionally, the Kolkata route will see an increase in frequency to twice daily beginning December 15, 2024.
Air India Express recently celebrated a significant milestone as its network expanded beyond 50 destinations with the addition of Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, along with Dimapur and Patna. This achievement highlights the airline’s rapid growth, supported by its expanding fleet of 90 aircraft, with new additions joining every week, Air India Express said in a release.
