Delhi airport operator DIAL announced on Friday that its excess baggage service, initiated in 2020, has successfully managed approximately 1.7 lakh kilograms of luggage, resulting in a significant saving of around Rs 7 crore for passengers. Under this service, rates commence at Rs 99 per kilogram.

Cost-Effective Solution for Travellers

The excess baggage delivery service is highlighted as a remarkably cost-effective solution, offering rates that are less than 1/5th of the typical excess baggage costs. Travelers benefit from the added advantage of choosing between air and road delivery options. Road delivery guarantees baggage arrival within 4-7 days, while air delivery ensures a swift arrival within 72 hours, providing passengers with flexibility and convenience.

Operated by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), the service has demonstrated its efficiency by handling a substantial amount of luggage, contributing to considerable savings for passengers. DIAL oversees operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital.

The release further notes that domestic routes such as Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Kerala, and Guwahati have emerged as the most sought-after choices among passengers availing themselves of this valuable excess baggage service.
