In a separate update on X, Birmingham Airport confirmed that it had suspended operations.
Birmingham Airport, the seventh busiest airport in the UK, serving 11.5 million passengers last year, announced on X that it has suspended operations. Police advised all passengers flying from the airport on Wednesday afternoon to contact their airline and check the airport’s website for the latest updates.
According to local newspaper Birmingham Live, passengers are not being allowed to disembark from planes, drivers are being turned away from the airport, and all transport links to the facility have been canceled.
