An ammunition cartridge was discovered on Air India flight AI916 from Dubai to New Delhi upon its landing at New Delhi Airport on October 27, according to an Air India spokesperson. The flight had safely disembarked all passengers before the cartridge was found in a seat pocket.

“One ammunition cartridge was found in the pocket of a seat of our flight AI916 after it had landed from Dubai at Delhi…and all passengers had safely disembarked. A complaint was immediately lodged with the Airport Police by Air India strictly adhering to the laid down security protocols,” the Spokesperson said.

This incident comes amid another scare involving an Air India flight. Earlier in the week, flight AI216 received a bomb threat as it prepared to return from Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal to New Delhi. Upon receiving the threat, authorities swiftly enacted emergency protocols, rerouting the plane to an isolated area for a thorough search. The Nepal Army bomb squad and the Nepal Police Canine division conducted a comprehensive inspection that lasted over four hours, ultimately finding no suspicious items on board. Officials confirmed the bomb threat as a hoax.

This marks the second hoax call received by Tribhuvan International Airport within a week, causing heightened security concerns. The Air India flight was cleared for takeoff once the threat was neutralized, resuming normal operations.
