Airbus has inaugurated its cutting-edge headquarters for India and South Asia at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, reinforcing its long-term vision for the region’s aerospace and defense sectors. The facility was opened by India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, in the presence of Airbus’ top executives, including Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, and Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia.
This new headquarters is designed to consolidate all three of Airbus’ business units—Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters, and Defence & Space—under one roof, bringing the company closer to its customers in India and across South Asia. Rémi Maillard described the launch as a significant milestone, saying, “This headquarters embodies Airbus’ commitment to growing India’s entire aerospace ecosystem.”
The facility also includes a state-of-the-art pilot and maintenance training center, featuring four A320neo Full Flight Simulators (FFS), further enhancing Airbus’ role in workforce development in India.
Airbus has been rapidly expanding its presence in India. “We’ve seen a three-fold increase in full-time employees in the past three years, and we’re on track to open a 5,000-seater campus in Bengaluru next year,” Maillard added, signaling the company’s long-term investment in India’s aviation infrastructure.
In addition to its new headquarters, Airbus is a major contributor to India’s aviation supply chain, with over 1 billion euros worth of procurement annually. The company’s engineering and digital centers in Bengaluru also play a critical role in supporting Airbus’ global programs. Plans for new assembly lines in India for the C295 military transporter and H125 helicopters further highlight the company’s intent to deepen its industrial footprint in the country.
Airbus’ ongoing expansion underscores India’s growing importance as a strategic hub in the global aviation landscape, positioning the nation as a key partner in shaping the future of aerospace innovation and manufacturing.
