The representatives of the Air India Express Employees Union (AIXEU) and the airline’s management had a meeting and discussed several issues in the ongoing conciliation proceedings on Tuesday.

In the meeting which was organized by the labour department, several issues were discussed including salary concerns, as per a source. A complaint was filed to the department by the AIXEU members which includes some of the airline’s cabin crew. As a result, the ongoing conciliation process is been conducted under the Industrial Disputes Act.

Key issues raised in the meeting:

The airline crew members raised various issues in the meeting from revised salary structures, room sharing, inadequate assistance, unequal treatment of experienced crew members, and accommodation for the crew during layovers.

The AIXEU had earlier informed that more than 100 cabin crew had no work to do in the last two months because of the entry pass issues. The airline has not yet responded to the meeting that was held. Discussions were also made regarding airport entry passes and better utilization of cabin crew at their base stations. The next meeting is slated to take place on July 2nd.

Meanwhile, the Tata Group is currently working on integrating Vistara with Air India and on merging Air India Express and AIX Connect.

The Union has called off the strike earlier this month after a meeting with representatives of the airline in New Delhi. The meeting was conducted in the presence of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central). The strike led to a major disruption in the operations of flights. Protests were held by the union on the alleged mismanagement at the Tata Group-owned airline.
