Air India Express has taken a significant step to improve the travel experience for its passengers by increasing the free check-in baggage allowance on international flights from 20 kg to 30 kg, along with an additional 7kg of cabin baggage. This change in free baggage allowance will apply to all international flights operated by Air India Express between India, the Middle East and Singapore.
In addition to the free check-in baggage allowance, passengers can carry up to two pieces of cabin baggage, with a combined weight of no more than 7kg. This includes one laptop bag, handbag, backpack, or small bag with dimensions not exceeding 40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm to fit comfortably under the seat in front.
Families with infants get 47kg baggage allowance
Furthermore, the airline offers an additional 10kg of check-in baggage allowance for families traveling with infants, taking the total allowance to an impressive 47kg, which includes the 7kg cabin baggage.

The airline also has a premium offering, Xpress Biz, that provides an enhanced experience for business-class travelers. Guests flying on Xpress Biz enjoy a generous 40kg free check-in baggage allowance. Xpress Biz also offers a premium seating experience featuring recliner seats with a seat pitch of up to 58 inches. Other privileges include priority check-in, baggage handling, and boarding services, alongside ‘Gourmair’ hot meals for a superior in-flight experience.

For travelers looking for a more cost-effective option, Air India Express also offers its Xpress Lite service. Passengers who opt for Xpress Lite can enjoy lower fares while still getting 3 kg of cabin baggage allowance, in addition to 7 Kg cabin baggage allowance applicable to all
a 3kg cabin baggage allowance. This service is ideal for those traveling light and wishing to save on costs.
Moreover, for those needing additional check-in baggage, the airline provides the flexibility to pre-book extra baggage allowance at discounted rates—15kg for domestic flights and 20kg for international flights.
Air India Express set to reach 100 aircraft this year
The airline currently operates approximately 450 weekly flights connecting 19 Indian cities with 13 destinations across the region. Additionally, it offers 26 weekly flights between South India and Singapore, linking Chennai, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli with the island city-state. The airline has seen remarkable growth, now operating over 400 daily flights, marking a 30% increase compared to last year.
This growth comes as the airline expands its network to more than 50 destinations, including newly added routes to Bangkok and Phuket, as well as increased access to key Middle Eastern hubs such as Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Muscat, and Ras al-Khaimah.
With the addition of more destinations and an expanding fleet that is expected to reach 100 aircraft this financial year, Air India Express is poised to continue offering enhanced services and unparalleled convenience to its growing base of international travelers.
