Speaking about the progress and development of Eaton Corporation in India, Steven E Peterson, the vice president of Eaton Corporation reiterated the fact that India is one of the best markets for his company. He has been a part of the global talent acquisition and human resource functional excellence team of Eaton Corporation for a long time and has been looking into Eaton?s global talent acquisition strategies, HR planning and analysis, talent development and process improvement.
He had first come to India in March 2007. Since then he says, ?I am fascinated by India. Every time I come I feel the energy and see the tremendous potential that this country offers. I see so much opportunity for growth in India and the career potential this offers for our employees. The people are genuine, helpful and hospitable. They want you to feel welcome ? and I do.?
With the company spreading its business all over the world, Peterson has identified a huge human resource for engineering and manufacturing business in India. He has high hopes about the organisation?s growth and firmly believes that India would definitely benefit from the growth of the organisation in India.
Eaton Corporation has three major business sections ? fluid power, electrical division and truck division (that would be starting its operation by the second half of this year). The US-based company has operations spread over 140 countries. Eaton looks for skilled and professional people for manufacturing, operations and IT services. Thus the company has a considerable manpower requirement in the financial services, global service supply chain and IT sectors. The technical skill that lies abundant in India makes it an apt place for business.
He points out, ?I actually see this diversity as an opportunity for our company. Our culture is one that values diversity of perspective. We purposely create an environment where employees feel comfortable expressing their opinions, even when they disagree with our direction.? He asserts that by listening to different perspectives the company will end up with a much better solution to any problem, products for the customers and a better work environment for the employees.
Eaton has a strong belief in people and also treating people in the right way. ?Eaton has very strong ethics. We bring people together and look forward to sustainability and corporate responsibility too,? says Steven while commenting on the values of the organisation.
Commenting on the training and development techniques of Eaton, Steven informs us that Eaton runs the Eaton University that enhances the readership skills and also technical skills of the students. There are in-house and external training programs for the suitable candidates. They are given enough opportunities to grow in the company and with challenging assignments; they are encouraged to use their capacities to the maximum.
