The number of retail-branded coffee outlets is increasing in major cities. Besides coffee retail majors like Barista and Caf? Coffee, small coffee makers are foraying into the retail bandwagon. After more than four decades, Tamil Nadu-based filter coffee manufacturer Vivekananda Coffee is looking to spread its wings to the north and western parts of the country.
The Vivekananda Coffee has five outlets in Chennai and it plans to open the Delhi outlet shortly. “We have identified the location of the outlet in Delhi and will shortly make formal announcement of opening our first outlet beyond Tamil Nadu,” N Srinivasan, managing director, Vivekananda Coffee, told FE.
Besides selling filter coffee through their outlets, the company has been supplying filter coffee to hotels, fast food outlets and hotels. It controls more than 40% of the total filter coffee powder market in Tamil Nadu.
“We also sale equipments such as traditional filter machine, electric filter machine and packaged coffee beans,” Srinivasan said. However, he declines to divulge details about the investment the company is making for spreading out beyond Tamil Nadu.
Srinivasan said that the company’s outlet would be unique and stand out from the other competing brands.
