From spools to records to cassettes to mini discs to CDs, DVD and now USB sticks that fit at the tip of your finger, music has become a ?click-of-a-button? world that definitely believes that small is better. We used to lug around big record bags that weighed a ton, but today we carry our music in our wallets on a USB stick. However, the old ways haven?t been abandoned. Vinyls still spin and CDs are still played with. And for those who have been cassette disc jockeys or scratched on records, the new equipment available today brings forth a love for the hardware available at ones disposal, as well as software. Today, everyone speaks about using your laptop and nothing more to reach out to a crowd. With the new CDJ 2000 and DJM 2000, veteran disc jockeys can now sit back and be content that the six to eight feet of deejaying equipment is no more forcibly compressed to a 15-inch laptop screen.
Another thing that is happening is that crowds today know what they want to hear. More and more people are expressing a love for old music that is being refurbished into more progressive tunes. For those of us who have been in the industry for more than 10 years, we see new mixes of old songs as a way of bridging that gap between then and now and appreciate the technology that is available to make all this possible.
