In a move that is certain to invoke the religious and historic traditions of Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal?s swearing in ceremony as deputy chief minister has been fixed at the holy city of Sri Amritsar Sahib on January 21.
This is first time that such an oath taking ceremony is being held in the Guru Ki Nagri, Sri Amritsar Sahib.
Disclosing this here on Sunday, media advisor to chief minister Harcharan Bains said that Sukhbir Singh Badal would be sworn in on January 21 at Ranjit Avenue at 1:00 pm in Amritsar.
Bains also said that a large number of national dignitaries including the BJP president Rajnath Singh and the top brass of the BJP and several other national and regional parties will attend the function. Apart from this, the chief ministers of many states will also attend.
The government is making arrangements as lakhs of followers of the youthful SAD president are expected to converge on the holy city. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the electronic and print coverage of the mega event and a special media centre had been set up to facilitate the media persons.
