With an eye on taking the number of sellers on its online marketplace to 100,000 by the end of this fiscal, Snapdeal on Monday announced a tie-up with National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), which provides training, consultancy and research to promote entrepreneurship.
An apex organisation of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, NIESBUD has so far provided training to about three lakh individuals and businesses since inception. The governing council of the institution is chaired by MSME minister Kalraj Mishra.
As part of the tie-up, NIESBUD and Snapdeal will collaborate for promoting entrepreneurship in the $3.1-billion e-commerce sector and examine the potential of MSMEs in e-commerce. They will also jointly hold training programmes for entrepreneurs keen on exploring e-commerce opportunities.
?With this MoU with NIESBUD, we are now further promoting entrepreneurship and digitally enabling small and medium sized businesses in India. Partnering with NIESBUD provides us with a large platform to together create opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs and build successful businesses by selling online,? said Snapdeal co-founder Rohit Bansal.
Approximately 500 enterprises will be up-skilled every month through this endevour, Snapdeal said in a release. The online marketplace will also promote virtual clusters, an initiative of the MSME Ministry to furnish all important information regarding schemes and benefits for MSMEs.
