Korean digital technology home appliances major Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd has set a growth target of 25% for the calender year 2009 to touch a turnover of $2 billion (Rs 10,000 crore) against the last year’s turnover of $1.7 billion, primarily driven by new launches so far announced in this year, Ravinder Zutshi, deputy managing director, Samsung India, said here on Wednesday.
Responding to queries after announcing the national launch of 19 washing machine ranges, Zutshi said: “Despite slowdown and the sluggish market condition, we believe Samsung will achieve a growth of 25% in CY2009 as compared to 30% in CY2008. We hope to post an overall sales figure of $2 billion (Rs 10,000 crore) during the year.”
“While we continue to maintain our leadership position in frost-free refrigeration, flat panels and fully automatic washing machine segments, we will strive to increase our market share further in CTV, air conditioner and other home appliance areas, where the company holds the second position,” Zutshi said.
