In today’s changing workplace environment, there are various personal attributes that affect productivity. According to a study released on Thursday by staffing and recruitment major TeamLease, 80% of employees believe that salary levels in relation to experience affect productivity at the workplace.

The study also reveals that 67% of the respondents find that their spouses? attitude towards their career and relationship with other people at the workplace affect productivity. In Hyderabad, for instance, most of the participants believed that relationship-based attributes affect productivity. However, only one fourth from Mumbai and Pune agree on the same.

About 86% of the people in the capital city have rated that average or simple looking people are more hardworking than those having good looks, while marital status affecting productivity has been highly rated in cities such as Bangalore and Chennai. In cities such as Kolkata, Pune and Mumbai, health issues have been rated more than 75% as the factor which affects the productivity of an individual.

Sangeeta Lala, vice-president, TeamLease Servcies, said, ?We were aware to some extent that appearance, marital status, relationship with colleagues, gossip mongering, do affect productivity in some or the other way.?

?Today?s workplace environment is undergoing a constant change and it is important for companies and employees alike to adapt fast,? she adds. The survey respondents included employees across Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. The respondents? were in the age-group of 22-45 years, drawn from industries including sales, marketing, business development, operations, finance, HR and IT.
