With a view to further strengthen infrastructure in Gurgaon for adequate and qualitative power supply, the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) and the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) have an ambitious plan of Rs 1,000-crore to add 27 new substations having a total transformation capacity of 1,600 mva.

Out of these, ten substations, including two substations of 220-kv level and eight substations of 66 kv and 33 kv levels have already been commissioned.

A spokesman of DHBVN said with the completion of this short-term plan, which was under execution, to strengthen the power transmission system in Gurgaon, the total capacity of the system at the levels of 66 kv and 33 kv levels would increase to 2,292.5 mva (including a capacity of 312.5 mva to be added by the DHBVN at 33 kv-level) against the expected demand of 1,994 mva. Thus, there would be a surplus capacity by 298.5 mva. At the level of 220-kv level and 400-kv level, the capacity of the system would be 2,890 mva and 2,660 mva respectively.
