Hyundai Motor India Ltd, on Tuesday, launched a new version of the ‘i10’ has been powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa engine and is priced between Rs 3.99-Rs 5.43 lakh. This would be available in three variants – Magna, Sportz and Asta.

The engine, which will also be used in the upcoming i20, is being manufactured at Hyundai’s engine and transmission plant in Sriperumbudur. Overall, the company has invested $421 million on the project which was spread over a period of 48 months.

“However, the current 1.1-litre engine would continue to power both Santro and the i10, but the new Kappa engine would significantly raise the bar in this segment,” HS Lheem, managing director, Hyundai Motor, said.

Lheem added that Hyundai has already received huge export orders, including 50,000 units from Europe, for the new i10.
