In a match where all the players came up with some good performances, Reena’s was perhaps the most note-worthy and special one. Not only Reena took four wickets to finish as the most successul bowler of the day but she also took a hat-trick to spell doom for the opposition team as Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 56 (Club) entered the final after beating IS Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, Sector 21 by a mammoth margin of 126 runs in the semi-final match of the Sub-Junior State Women’s Cricket Championship (Under 16) for Kailash Bahl Trophy played on Friday.

Electing to bat first on a placid pitch, GMSSS-56 (Club) batswomen plundered runs and posted an unassailable total of 181 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sarita top scored with 32 runs, while Kajal (26) and Kusum (24) were the other noteworthy contributors. Kavita picked up two wickets for 32 runs. Abhishta claimed one wicket.

Chasing the mammoth reply was never going to be easy for the hosts as they lost wickets at regular interval to lose the grip on the match.

It was Reena’s performance with the ball that was perhaps the defining moment of the match as she sent three batswomen packing and not only completed her hat-trick but also ensured her team a comfortable win. She gave away just nine runs in three overs.

IS Dev Samaj were eventually bowled out for 55 in 16 overs. Saloni and Dolly were the only noteworthy contributors with nine and eight runs, respectively. Kajol bowled well and kept the pressure from the other end.
