The Oberoi hotel seems to be redefining the contours of hospitality by taking it to new frontiers. After attending a press meet in the hotel recently, when the hotel valet brought Eavesdropper?s car, the white car was covered with an unbelievable amount of multiple bird droppings all over the windscreen and the bonnet. When politely asked to kindly clean the mess, the concierge replied that the concerned workers weren?t around and there was no way they could clean it, while other co-workers around him explained that it was only bird dropping and not an accident in their premises. Hearing this, Eavesdropper dashed inside to meet the manager and pointed out the extreme ?hospitable? treatment she was being subjected to. After a while having spent loads of energy the car was finally cleaned, a process, which barely took five minutes, but was filled with a great deal of reluctance by the hotel employees. Phew, so much so for hospitality!
Shining knight
If you thought all that finance minister P Chidambaram could do was juggle tax numbers, think again because he’s quite good at playing the knight in shining armour. At a recent event at Ficci where the minister was the chief guest, the Emcee forgot all about him, skipping his name. The minister meanwhile kept referring to the programme to check what exactly he was supposed to do there. The organisers acted well in time to save the situation and the Emcee hastily announced that the minister would deliver the keynote address. All credit to Chidambaram who saved her the embarrassment and joked, ?I was hoping that she would propose the vote of thanks!?
