With the arrest of eight persons from the district, police claim to have busted an inter-state job racket in the Eastern Railway.
A joint police team led by Manoj Kumar Banerji (in charge of Barakar police station in West Bengal) and Anil Singh (OC, Chirkunda police station in Jharkhand), raided a house at Kumardhubi here last evening and arrested eight persons in connection with the racket.
The police said a fake appointment letter, issued in the name of one Narendra Kumar by Asansol Railway Division manager for a fourth grade post, was seized from the possession of Laxmi Prasad, one of the arrested persons.
The accussed have confessed to operating a job racket in the Railways between Delhi and Asansol Rail division.
The arrests were made after the Barakar police nabbed four persons, all belonging to the Phulwari area of Patna district in Bihar, from a lodge near Barakar bus stand yesterday.
They told the police they had got railway jobs for which they were being given training near Kumardhubi railway station (under Asansol rail division).
Nakul Burnwal, landlord of the house from where the eight persons were arresed, said the tenants had been imparting training to around 20-25 youth for the last three months.
