The entry of private sector in management of various cultural institutions will be examined by the National Advisory Board on Culture, the government told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
The National Advisory Board is likely to submit its recommendations by year-end, the House was informed. The Board was constituted early this year to examine numerous issues that includes the extent of the role of the government in various areas of culture. “The Board will also examine the extent of private participation in cultural institutions. It is one of the terms of reference given to the Board,” minister of state for urban development Ajay Maken said.
To a question on whether a committee has been set up to make recommendations to the ministry for framing a National Culture policy, the minister said the government was in agreement with members of an earlier committee that there was no need for a such a policy.
