Punjab procures 40.27 lakh mt paddy

Paddy procurement by six government agencies and traders crossed 40 lakh metric tonnes in Punjab.

An official spokesman said here on Tuesday the PUNGRAIN procured 9.41 mt of paddy whereas the MARKFED procured 8.52 lakh MT of paddy, PUNSUP procured 8.25 lakh mt of paddy whereas the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation procured 4.82 lakh mt of paddy. FCI procured only 49,919 tonnes of paddy. while 4.52 lakh mt was procured by millers.The mandis in Amritsar division recorded 13.68 lakh mt.

Six government agencies have paid over Rs 2046.11 crore The spokesman said that farmers of the state are being made payment by the government agencies within 48 hours of lifting of paddy from the procurement centres.
