Potato futures prices gained Rs 2.80 to Rs 427.30 per quintal on Monday on increased demand in the spot market against tight supply.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in September gained Rs 2.80, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 427.30 per quintal, with a business volume of 40 lots.

The potato for delivery in July traded marginally higher by 70 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 473.90 per quintal, with a business turnover of 40 lots.

Market analysts said increased demand in the spot market against tight supply, following less arrivals from producing belts mainly led to a rise in potato prices at futures trade.
