Nature’s Essence Pvt Ltd, which makes and markets a range of aromatherapy beauty solutions under four brands, plans to set up a manufacturing facility at Haldia or Nandigram to cater to the eastern Indian market, according to Saurabh Nanda, its executive director.
At present, the Delhi-based company, which reported a turnover of Rs 30 crore in 2006-07, has a facility at Haridwar and is setting up another facility nearby and in Uttar Pradesh. The West Bengal facility will be its fourth plant.
Nature’s Essence, meanwhile, has tied up with an Indian multinational to act as a third party manufacturer. The Indian MNC — which Nanda declined to name — plans to set up a chain of retail points in the US as company owned franchisees.
“We are doing a private label for an Indian MNC that plans to go abroad,” he said. Nature’s Essence is already supplying an Australian major and a tele-shopping firm operating in India.
Nanda said the company is aiming to hit a turnover of Rs 100 crore by December 2008, which will be followed by a share issue to raise funds for the Bengal plant.
“With the market growing at an average of 30% a year, and some top players at 100%, we believe the market is absolutely unlimited,” Nanda said. According to him, the market for aromatherapy beauty solutions is worth Rs 30,000-35,000-crore at present.
Nature’s Essence has over 200 products, including a range for men. Nanda said the products are available at all price points from Rs 20 to Rs 400.
“We are not just into cosmetics; we are into treatment cosmetics,” Nanda said. The company conducts extensive personalized selling campaigns in which it holds seminars and workshops for people in the beauty trade.
According to Nanda, the company spends 4-5% of its turnover at present on research & development
