Monsoon rains are expected to resume from Wednesday in Kerala, local Met officials said.

Many of the plantation crop areas in the state received a few spells of rains, growers said. So far, the pattern of monsoon rains has been favourable for tea, coffee, cardamom, pepper and rubber, they said.

Meanwhile, sowing of groundnut has commenced in Gujarat, India?s biggest producer of oilseeds, an official at the Directorate of Groundnut Research said on Tuesday.

?Groundnut sowing has already started in Gujarat and may pick up soon,? the official said. Monsoon rains reached south Gujarat June 16, but has not covered the entire state, IMD data showed. The regional met office also said that monsoon rains in Madhya Pradesh, the country?s biggest soybean producing state, might revive from Saturday.

Monsoon has already entered the state, but progress is slow. Even if the region witnesses a few localised showers in the coming days sowing is likely to start, traders and farmers said. Cloudy weather is seen over Indore and adjoining areas.
