A resident of Sector 20 was sentenced to life imprisonment by the district and sessions judge P L Ahuja for murdering his roommate in 2009. The accused, Anil Paswan, was sentenced under Sections 302, 404 and 201 of Indian Penal Code.

The case dates back to March 2009. The accused, Anil used to stay on rent with his namesake in village Kundi. On the intervening night of March 6-7, both of them had an argument on watching television following which Paswan left the house. Meanwhile, after a week the deceased?s body was found from a secluded place in the village. A case was registered on the complaint of the victim?s brother, Pradeep Kumar. During interrogation, Anil confessed to have killed his namesake. The police also recovered the wrist watch worn by the victim from his possession. The postmortem report suggested that the victim died due to smothering and he had also received head injuries. Both of them hailed from Bihar and were working a daily wagers in the township.
