GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), is setting up a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) in Hyderabad in association with Malaysia Airlines. It has already signed an agreement to that effect with the airline, stated the company release.

The MRO centre will handle all types of aircraft from light jets to super jumbos sucha s A380, PS Nair, CEO GHIAL said.

?The facility, strategically located within close proximity to the three main cities of New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, with modern infrastructure, will be another step towards our endeavor to make the airport an integrated aviation facility for our key business partners,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Malaysia Airlines executive director Tengku Azmil Zahruddin said that as of now, most of the aircraft are sent to Malaysia and other MRO providers overseas for heavy maintenance.

?We will be able to capitalise on these opportunities and position the JV company as a leading MRO player in the sub-continent,” Tengku Azmil said.
