French cosmetic giant L?Oreal is sharpening its focus on India. The company is setting up a research & development centre in Mumbai to develop specific products for the India market. ?The L?Oreal Group has 3,420 research employees in cosmetics and dermatology. The research & development centre in India ? the sixth such global facility for L?Oreal ? will come up in Mumbai by the end of 2011,? Dinesh Dayal, COO, L?Oreal India said. L?Oreal already has an evaluation centre in Mumbai that conducts studies to understand consumer behavior and practices. The centre will develop India-specific products for the company, he said.

?India is one of the most important and strategic markets for L?Or?al and among the top three fastest growing L?Oreal subsidiaries with a growth rate of 32.5%.
