The accounting fraud committed by former chairman of Satyam Computers Ramalinga Raju is worse than bribery (?Con game?). The entire Satyam fiasco is a setback not only to India Inc but also to our fight against bribery and fraud. The Central government should take the necessary steps to unravel the whole financial crime committed by Raju. In the context of the magnitude of the irreparable damage caused to India?s IT sector, he deserves exemplary punishment. The fraud should serve as a clarion call for other corporates to strengthen transparency and credibility of their businesses. The government, on its part, should put all business activities of the country?s corporate houses under direct and strict vigilance.
