What first started on February 28, 1909, as a national event in United States of America, a century later has become a universal event as International Women?s Day, albeit the date moved a bit to March 8.

It is a day for global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women.

Though it started as a political event, the day blended in the culture of many countries and lost its political flavour. Now it has become simply an occasion for men to express their love and gratitude by giving flowers and small gifts to the women around them ? mothers, wives, sisters, girlfriends, daughters, colleagues etc, rather similar to Mother?s Day and Valentine?s Day fused together.

To express my gratitude to the ladies through this column I went around looking for a gadget that without even an iota of doubt is exclusively conceived and designed for them.

And voila! I found one such product, the ?HP Mini- Vivienne Tam Edition? notebook.

The Queen of the fashion world, Ms Vivienne Tam designed this notebook as the ultimate convergence of fashion ? niche in design and technology.

This special limited edition Notebook (only 500 available in India for sale) is a true amalgamation of the needs of a modern woman who cares about fashion but is also equally passionate about technology.

Also called Clutch (as in ladies? clutch Purse) this notebook is gleaming red in colour with a burst of peony flowers in vivid shades of purple in full bloom across the top panel to brighten your lives.

Weighing only 1.09 kilogram and a stunning vital statistics of 10.29 inch x 6.55 inch x 0.99 inch with tapered and contoured edges all around, it is virtually a fashion statement to hold this notebook in your hand with ease and comfort like a purse made of mulberry silk.

As you flip the top open, the gleaming red continues to dominate the inside too.

The nearly full size red keyboard has characters imprinted in gold and also bear the name of the designer ?Vivienne Tam? embossed on the right hand corner of the palm-rest. The touch pad has a very subtle dotted border on the right edge and an illuminated button on top to disable it in case you ladies prefer to use a mouse.

Oh! Have I forgot to tell you that there is also a mouse available with the matching design as an optional accessory?

Even the 10.1 inch LED ?Bright view Infinity? wide-screen display (16:9 aspect ratio) has a default red (like the top panel) wallpaper. Barring the display screen bezel, which is glassy black and the hinge that also houses the stereo speakers in metallic silver, the whole Digital Clutch is a bold statement of convergence of feminine style and sophisticated technology in shades of red and purple.

Specially designed for the modern, busy woman on the go with the need to stay in touch and abridge her life in style the Clutch is equipped with WiFi and Blue tooth connectivity options.

Both the power-on and WiFi/Bluetooth on/off sliders on front panel of the notebook are crowned with two tiny jewels that glow like neon to show the activity status.

And for those ladies who wish to know what goes inside their Clutch? well it is powered by an Intel Atom N270 (1.60 GHz) processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 60 GB of hard disk space supplemented with an optional 16 GB of optional flash memory to store all your photographs, music or any data. It runs on Windows XP Home platform and also has a SD and multimedia card reader, two USB ports, stereo headphones and microphone jack socket, a socket to connect external display, mini web cam, built-in mic and a LAN socket (RJ45).

What it may lack in specs, it more than makes up in looks and style.

The notebook comes with a complementary embroidered storage sleeve that is convenient and stylish while being carried as a clutch.

With MRP of Rs 35,990 + taxes it definitely a big fashion statement to carry around.
