In an effort that would provide flexibility to researchers, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has decided to put in place a mechanism of joint supervision with foreign universities.
As per the plan, students pursuing a course in JNU, would be allowed continue with his/her research at other universities even outside India. However, the univerisities need to have an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with the central university.
?Talks are on but we are yet to finalise the plan. It is important to provide the required flexibility to students in a globalised environment,? a senior official at the university told FE.
JNU already has collaborations with many foreign universities/institutions like University of London and University of Yale, USA. In the initial phase, the arrangement would be with only a few universities.
The official said that the names are yet to be finalised.
