International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, is investing $4 million (approx R18 crore) in Sapphire Industrial Infrastructures to implement a large-scale grid-connected thin-film solar plant. This new solar plant will provide additional electricity to 11,000 people. Sapphire Industrial Infrastructures is a subsidiary of Moser Baer Clean Energy. The total project cost is about $20 million, of which $6 million would be funded by Moser Baer Projects and the balance $10 million would be financed through local financial institutions/banks.
