The state level single window clearance and monitoring authority of Himachal Pradesh cleared nine new industrial proposals for setting up projects at different places in the state. The decision was taken in its 32nd meeting, presided over by state chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhumal said the nine proposals will attract an investment of Rs 1,095 crore and generate employment for 3,100 people. He said the major proposals included Met Trade India which would invest Rs 497.87 crore and generate employment for 681 people. Plaza General Cable Energy will invest Rs 142 crore and employ 210 manpower.
Dhumal said there were many such firms, which were coming forward with heavy industrial investments keeping in view the industrial-friendly environment of the state, favourable climatic conditions and basic industrial infrastructure availability. He said that since the announcement of the special industrial package for the state, the authority had cleared 10,866 such proposals and permitted expansion of 318 additional projects carrying an investment of Rs 30,655.75 crore generating employment to about 3.79 lakh persons.
Dhumal said the state government would be discouraging industrial proposals with high pollution, power consumption and low employment generation potential. He said that all such projects had been put under the negative list which would be considered only case to case basis after taking all related aspects into consideration. He said that the state would not allow any industrial activity at the cost of the environment and interest of the state.
The minister said proposals from number of multinational companies were pouring in for investing in different industrial activities in the state which were being scrutinised and processed for approval on merit.
DHumal added that the state had best climatic conditions conducive to the information and bio technology industrial activities. He also added that preference was being accorded to environment- friendly industrial activities.
