It is not celebrity endorsements (?Life in LaLa Land?, Dec 15) that should be of concern in the US presidential race. It is the effect of competition within the Democratic primary race that is worrisome. In a belated bid to ?shore up the base? after having assumed she could fight on a centrist platform straight for the White House, Hillary Clinton is lurching leftwards. She has already broken with her husband and former President Bill Clinton?s stance on world trade. Her latest remarks have an inward tone, confusing observers about her economic outlook.

The whole truth
Malvika Singh hits the nail on the head (?The call of the day? Dec 15) when she writes that every state gets the politicians it deserves. What Gujarat deserves we will soon find out once the election results are declared.
The only saving grace is that some visiting national level leaders, such as Rahul Gandhi, have made courageous attempts to stand up for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. May it serve him well in the long run.
