The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has come up with a restructuring plan as number of corruption cases in the state has gone up.

The bureau has proposed that the number of Range offices be raised from 4 to 6. At present, the Range offices of the bureau are situated at Ambala, Rohtak, Gurgaon and Hissar. The new Range offices will be opened at Rohtak and Faridabad. The total strength of police officials working with the Bureau at present is about 400. The Bureau has five vigilance police stations, which are located at Panchkula, Ambala, Gurgaon, Rohtak and Hissar.

S C Sinha, director general, Haryana State Vigilance Bureau told FE on Wednesday that with the restructuring, the number of officials would go up to 900, which would be more than double the present strength.

Sinha told FE that the file has already been cleared and it has gone to finance department (FD) for clearing the financial implications of the move. He admitted on the sidelines of a press meet though Bureau conducted 184 surprise raids and laid trap to nab corrupt officials, at least 25 to 30 officials had got prior information about the raids. He agreed that the cases registered were just ?tip of the iceberg?.
