The Haryana government will spend Rs 350 crore on flood prevention measures in the state. This was stated by the finance, irrigation, forest and environment minister Ajay Singh Yadav in a press conference at Sirsa.

He said that out of this amount, Rs 18 crore would be spent on strengthening and increasing the capacity of Rangoi Kharif Channel. The embankments of river Ghaggar would also be strengthened, besides constructing ring bundhs at various places.

The digging level of Ottu Weir had also been increased from two-and-a-half feet to four feet and the amount earmarked for this purpose had also been increased from Rs 70 crore to Rs 107 crore. With the completion of this project, more water would be stored in Ottu Weir which would be sufficient for providing irrigation facilities to the farmers of the district for 90 days, he said.

A sum of Rs 278 crore would be spent on various irrigation schemes in Sirsa in near future, he added
