Haryana has submitted the complete transportation plan for increasing connectivity both by rail and road. The state has made recommendations for augmentation of power and upgrading technical training institutes to the Central government to keep pace with the accelerated development of the area under the ambitious Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
Haryana chief secretary Dharam Vir on Tuesday said this while presiding over the meeting to discuss the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project with the advisor to department of industrial promotion and policy, Ajay Dua. Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor was the first integrated project of the country for comprehensive national industrialization which would immensely benefit Haryana in accelerating economic development of the state. Ajay Dua deliberated upon the highlights of this corridor. The Central government plans to develop dedicated freight corridor (DFC) linking Delhi to Mumbai. The first phase of this planned development constitutes construction of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor. To improve connectivity of this place for DFC, the Centre had planned to establish Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor in association with Japan. Simultaneously, the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) has been incorporated to implement the project which would be have equity participation from the Central government, the state government and government agencies.
The chief secretary said in addition to freight traffic, passenger traffic would have to be planned for DMIC influence regions. It was also recommended that representation of all the states on the board of DMICDC needs to be ensured for smooth functioning of DMIC as well as equal opportunity for all the states for development of DMIC.
