Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited will spend a sum of Rs 6 crore for augmenting the existing capacity of the milk plant at Sirsa. Managing director Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited, Dhanpat Singh, said that the existing milk procurement capacity of the plant, which is one lakh litres per day, would increase to two lakh litres per day after the augmentation.
The plant prepares a number of milk products besides supplying milk to various places. Approximately 1.70 lakh litres of milk per day is procured through various cooperative milk societies and about 22,000 farmers of the district benefit from this project. More than 16 milk societies had been formed, covering almost all villages of the district. Milk societies have also been formed in a number of villages in Fatehabad district and the nearby areas of Rajasthan. The farmers were given a maximum record price of Rs 26 per litre for 10-point fat milk during the current financial year.
Singh said that with the augmentation of the plant, the business would grow in the district and more farmers would benefit from the scheme. Various milk products such as ghee, butter, pinni and curd were being prepared in this milk plant. Also, a special lassi is prepared during the summers beside sufficient quantity of milk being supplied to Delhi and cantonment areas of Hisar and Ambala, he added.
The milk plant had earned a profit of Rs one crore during the current financial year, he informed.
