The Students? Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) in the press conference on Saturday named Harshvardhan as the presidential candidate and Rajat Sharma as the chairman of all the colleges. The party leaders said the party would follow the Lyngdoh committee recommendations as they are and a conscious effort will be put to follow all the guidelines including removing of stickers from university property. ?SOPU will be fighting the elections on its achievements like teacher evaluation, Senate representation, opening of placement cells, completion of the hostel infrastructure and parking areas.?
?On Monday we are going to meet the V-C to discuss the matter of why so many committees are being formed in Simranjit Singh Dhillon case while no action is being taken in the matter. Whereas, certain employees were terminated in the Uday Singh Wirring case incident but no explanation was sought from the accused. Why are university authorities being so biased,? questioned Birender Dhillon. ?We also would like the authorities to come clean on the issue of Lynghdoh as well as other committees and stop forming committees after committees. If they feel they are incompetent to handle these cases, they should give it to the Chandigarh Police,? added Dhillon.
