This Christmas the tourists are favouring destinations that offer less of pocket pinch and more of enjoyment.
During last Christmas, Goa happened to be the most sought-after tourist spot. However, the trend this year is to explore the beautiful hill stations of north India. Places like Massourie, Nanital, Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Massourie and Nanital are emerging as favourite tourist destinations.
The trend this year has changed due to the rise in hotel tariffs by nearly 35-40%. Also, food and beverages cost has went up by nearly 20-25% in larger towns and metros. The hunt is now on for economical and affordable tourist spots.
North is being preferred mainly on two grounds. Firstly, the tourists can go for site seeing amidst beautiful hill stations. Also, the purpose of religious tourism is served.
According to DS Rawat, secretary general Assocham, over five lakh tourists are likely to visit various tourist destinations in north during forthcoming Christmas. Based on feedbacks, Assocham observed that the above-identified spots are emerging as top priorities among the tourists.
