After the successful launch of ?trust mark? logo in Mumbai, the All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) has now decided to launch this logo in all the major cities with a view to strengthen consumer confidence.

The ?trust mark? is an assurance to a customer of the commitment of the jeweller for his quality and best business practice. The ?trust mark? logo will have three categories for a jeweller to participate.

The first category is Top Jewellers of India and other two categories are Preferred Jewellers of India and Reliable Jewellers of India.

?Shortly after the Bangalore launch, TM will be launched in all major cities across India such as Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat, Delhi, Kolkatta, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad,? Ashok Minawala, chairman of GJF told FE.

The trust mark as a pilot project had been launched in Mumbai recently. This logo will become the industry benchmark for time to come. In the pilot project, twenty select jewellery retailers in Mumbai have been picked to form the initial membership. In its first phase ending March 2008, the federation plans to invite about 250 jewellery shops in the major cities across the country.

?The trust mark will be extensively promoted as the industry?s ultimate recognition of the best standards and every participating jeweller will get to use the TM logo,? he said.

Following the guidelines of the trust mark will be compulsory for all participants.

Various criteria set by the federation will have to be strictly followed by the participants of the program. A participant?s volume of business or net worth will not be criteria to be a part. A participant must be registered with BIS or equivalent authority approved by GJF and should have sales of Hallmarked jewellery in gold except for items exempted legally.
