Hyderabad-based Gati Limited, a leading supply chain management company, is on an expansion spree abroad. Recently, Gati partnered with Amsterdam-based General Logistics Systems (GLS) to expand its footprint in Europe. The company has already a strong presence in countries like China, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Dubai and Nepal.
Mahendra Agarwal, managing director, Gati says, ?The strategic alliance with GLS will open new opportunities for our customers to do business in Europe. We will connect businesses in India to Europe and GLS customers will find access to markets in India, even to remote towns.?
Armed with an engineering degree from the Bangalore University and a business administration degree from Austin, USA, Agarwal established Gati in 1989 when the concept of a logistics company was at a nascent stage in India. Today, the company has a market share of around 14% and turnover of $115.25 million. Agarwal says apart from overseas expansion, the company will be tapping the SME and the retail sector for their warehousing and logistics needs.
