The Traffic Police is finally ready to go ahead with the first trial for the accredited lane for Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

As per the plan, the two-hour trial on Lodhi Road would ?acclimatise commuters in Delhi to ?Games? lane discipline?. This means that no normal traffic would be allowed on the central verge of Lodhi Road between 11 am to 2 pm on Sunday.

?The segregated lanes for Games? related traffic would be the order of the day during the 12-day event. We feel such trials are the only way to acclimatise commuters to lane discipline. While the first trial would be held on the entire Lodhi Road stretch on a lean day, similar trials would be held during working days in the coming week. We need to see how the plan works and how people respond,? said Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyendra Garg.

The duration of trials and frequency would be gradually increased with time to allow people to get used to the plans, the Traffic Police said. The extreme right lane on all routes leading to the CWG venues have been set aside for Games-related traffic and are being earmarked as blue bands bound by yellow lines and having the CWG 2010 logo in white.
