The All India Management Association (AIMA), the association which conducts the management aptitude test, is planning to rope in foreign companies to rank B-Schools in the country.
The move is supposed to help management students to know easily about management schools and could bring in a a major change in how they are ranked.
?There are many surveys conducted by various agencies. These ranking are not considered credible as these are basically perception driven and no proper mechanism is being followed to arrive at proper ranking. Thus, we are planning to overhaul the whole system and taking help from a foreign professional body is being considered ? Kewal Handa, President of AIMA told FE.
However, he refused to reveal the name of the foreign agency that would be roped in for this purpose.
AIMA has already appointed a committee headed by AIMA council member, N M Konda for this purpose. One of the suggestions of the committee was to take views of all stakeholders including students, management and corporate.
The committee will soon finalise its report and will submit it in a months time.
Presently, AIMA conducts an annual ranking of B-Schools in which roughly 200 institutes participates. But even this ranking is considered more of perception driven.
Additionally, to expand the base of good management faculty, AIMA is planning to start a course in management faculty development, which will allow management institutes to send their faculty for resident manager faculty development course.
?Management institutes as well as higher education are facing a huge shortage of quality faculty members.
?To sort out this problem, we intend to start a course for resident faculty of various institutes whereby they would be taught easier and simpler way of teaching as well as ways of teaching case studies in a simple way,? said Handa.
