Millions of small farmers who for years have been denied access to better prices delivery mechanism for their agricultural produce might have good news over the next two months. The National Spot Exchange (NSE), which plans to launch electronic platform for agricultural commodities in August, on Wednesday tied up with Infrastructure Development and Finance Services (IL & FS) for using the village level IT kiosks.
NSE and IL&FS, which signed a memorandum of understanding under which the IT-enabled common service centres (CSCs) promoted by department of information technology (DST), would disseminate farmers real time prices of agricultural produce.
?Through CSCs, farmers can access NSE data on spot prices of various agricultural commodities,? Anjani Sinha, MD &CEO, NSEL said. DST has decided to set up more than one lakh CSCs in rural areas by the end of 2009 through private public partnership.
