Union textile minister Dayanidhi Maran has indicated that not a single bale more than the 55 lakh bales already approved, would be allowed to be exported. He said this while laying the foundation stone for the powerloom mega cluster at Erode in Tamil Nadu on Sauturday. Pointing out that the exorbitantly increasing cotton prices are harming the domestic textile industry as a whole, he has assured that the textiles ministry would make all out efforts to protect the domestic industry. The Centre has sanctioned Rs 70 crore as subsidy for the proposed textile marketing complex under the comprehensive powerloom cluster scheme.
