Mumbai-based Best IT World, that markets computer peripherals under the iBall brand, has forayed into the tablet segment with its iBall Slide i7011 tablet. But with so many companies producing tablets, the biggest question is?what makes iBall Slide different? To start with, the device
features a 7-inch 800 x 480 pixels resolution capacitive touchscreen display, 1GHz processor and is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
The iBall Slide tablet is powered by 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and includes 512-MB RAM with 8 GB of internal storage. The tablet also sports micro-SD memory card slot supporting up to 32 GB of expandable storage and is priced at R13,995 that could give some tough competition to the Reliance 3G tablet and Beetel magiQ tablets.
The capacitive multi-touch
experience is quite good. Performance-wise, iBall Slide runs full HD video quite seamlessly, but
inbuilt speakers dampen overall multimedia experience. One glitch, that we came across while using Slide is lack of external volume control. Being low priced
also means that you would not get some features like rear camera or a SIM card slot. For connectivity, you can use either 3G data card via USB port or connect your Slide to Wi-Fi network. If aesthetics are too much a concern for you then you might be disappointed. While using this tab, you won?t get that feel of sleekness you expect from devices like iPad.
The iBall Slide features a ultra smooth 7-inch (18 cm) WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) full capacitive touchscreen multi-touch display and is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system
essentially designed for smartphones. The tablet?s display supports HD video playback and 3D games.
For connectivity, iBall Slide offers WiFi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and 3G using USB based data card dongle (to be purchased separately), and is one of the rare budget priced tablet that sports USB Host and USB OTG ports in addition to
HDMI digital out port allowing direct connection to home HDTV, portable projectors.
The USB host port allows connecting a standard USB mass storage pen devices to copy to or from the device and also allows connecting USB based keyboard and mouse to the device and USB memory card readers. The USB OTG port allows connecting the iBall Slide tablet to desktop PC
or laptop/netbook devices.
Bluetooth wireless connectivity in the tablet device allows users to connect keyboard, mouse, headphones, headsets and all sorts of Bluetooth enabled
devices wirelessly.
The tablet also includes 2 megapixel front-facing camera which can also record video and comes with a powerful 4400 mAh lithium-ion battery that allows up to 6.5 hours of non stop music playback or up to 5 hours of contiguous video playback
